These terms are provided as a plain-language template. They are not legal advice. Please review them — ideally with a qualified professional — before relying on them.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tenbo mobile application ("the app"), published by Alex Herdt ("we," "us," "our"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and the applicable app store's terms.

2. What Tenbo is

Tenbo is a scoring aid and point ledger for in-person Japanese Riichi mahjong. It helps you evaluate hands and track scores. Scoring results are provided for convenience; you are responsible for how scores are applied in your own game. Tenbo is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any official mahjong organization or league.

3. Free version and Tenbo Pro

The app is free to download and is supported by advertising. Tenbo Pro is an optional one-time purchase that removes ads and unlocks full match history and lifetime statistics. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Pricing is shown in the app before purchase.
You can restore a previous purchase on a new device using the "Restore Purchases" option, subject to the app store's account rules.
Refunds are handled by the applicable app store under its refund policy; we do not separately process payments or refunds.

4. Advertising

The free version displays third-party ads. Your interaction with ads and any linked third-party content is governed by those third parties' terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for details on advertising data.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except as permitted by law;
use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of app store rules;
interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the app.

6. Intellectual property

The app, its name, and its original content and design are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable laws. Tile artwork is used under its respective open-source license. These Terms do not grant you rights to our trademarks or branding.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that scoring output is error-free or that the app will be uninterrupted or available at all times.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us for the app (if any) in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Changes

We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the publisher resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where overridden by mandatory local consumer-protection laws that apply to you.
